Culex annulirostris - female mosquito. This is a common medium sized mosquito in Australia. It has a white-banded proboscis and bands of creamy scales on the abdomen which are broadly triangular. It breeds in fresh water containing plenty of vegetation and is a vicious biter outdoors especially at dusk. It is the major vector of Murray Valley Enchephalitis in Australia
